Perfumer and chef team up for Boadicea the Victorious

Vetiver Imperiale incorporates CPL Aromas’ new and unique technology, AromafusionMichelin starred chef, Jason Atherton, and CPL Aromas director of perfumery, Christian Provenzano, have collaborated with FOUR Magazine to create Vetiver Imperiale – the new scent for premium fragrance producer, Boadicea the Victorious.

Culinary inspiration

This new creation combines key culinary ingredients such as cardamom, pink pepper and rhubarb together with an intoxicating blend of citrus and woody notes. It skilfully showcases some of the common ingredients used in the world of perfumery and cooking.

Vetiver Imperiale is currently on sale in Harrods and priced at £245 for a 100mℓ bottle. It incorporates the new and unique CPL Aromas technology, Aromafusion. This allows CPL’s perfumers to introduce unique captive ingredients into its customers’ products, ensuring the creation is genuinely original. This is because the molecules within the formula are unknown in the fragrance industry.

Meet the masterminds

Christian Provenzano and Jason Atherton are true creative talents. Provenzano, now based in Dubai, has a reputation in the fragrance industry for creating original and highly successful, award-winning perfumes. Atherton’s restaurant, Pollen Street social, gained a Michelin star during its opening year in 2011. He has also co-hosted the Sky Living TV series My Kitchen Rules.

Commenting on the new fragrance, Provenzano says: ‘Working on this project with Jason was really exciting as my great passion, aside from perfumery, is cooking. Indeed if I had not followed perfumery as my chosen career I certainly would have liked to have become a chef.’

A nose for niche

This collaboration showcases the close links between the senses of smell and taste, as Provenzano and Atherton were able to incorporate some of their favourite ingredients into the mix producing a genuinely innovative fragrance. 

Boadicea the Victorious is a well-known, niche brand within the upper echelons of the perfume industry. Focusing on high-quality perfumes produced in small volumes, this brand is the very definition of niche. Its fragrances are stocked in exclusive locations, such as Harrods and Selfridges in London, and Neiman Marcus in the US.
