In considering the availability of any medicine for human or animal use, including complementary medicines, the MCC assesses a product in terms of safety, efficacy and quality. Currently six major disciplines of complementary medicines have been identified and preparations associated therewith are evaluated for safety, efficacy and quality by people specialising in each specific discipline.
